Syllabus I

This four-part course prepares the non-computer science engineer, or the natural science educated individual who has no computing background, with an introduction to programming with Python, C++ programming language, discrete mathematics and data structures. This course is a prerequisite for Bootcamp II.

  • Part 1: Introduction to Computer Programming with Python 
  • Part 2:  The C++ Programming Language 
  • Part 3:  Discrete Mathematics 
  • Part 4:  Data Structures

Computer Science Bootcamp II

This course is designed for those who have successfully completed Bootcamp I, or who have an industrial computing background to satisfy the prerequisites. This is a follow-on course and includes:

  • Part 1: Algorithms
  • Part 2: Databases
  • Part 3: Computer Architecture
  • Part 4: Operating Systems

Completion of these non-credit programs will provide learners, who do not have computing backgrounds, a pathway for acceptance into the computer science master's degree program or graduate certificate programs at Missouri S&T.

Course Details

  • Pilot Program Length: consist of two eight-week bootcamps. 
  • Cost: $4,000 for pilot program; $2,000 per bootcamp
  • Asynchronous delivery format with assignments, quizzes and projects. 
  • Must successfully complete Bootcamp I before registering for Bootcamp II, unless you have industrial computing background to satisfy the prerequisites for Bootcamp II.
  • Receive a non-credit Certificate of Completion from Missouri University of Science and Technology for each bootcamp you successfully complete.
  • Successful completion of both Bootcamp I and Bootcamp II satisfies the computer science prerequisites for entry into the Computer Science master’s degree or graduate certificate programs at Missouri S&T. A graduate application must be submitted and approved. Other math and GPA prerequisites apply.
